Amplitude instability in coupled Nd:YVO4 microchip lasers

A system of two coupled Nd:WO, microchip lasers exhibits a phase locking instability as coupling strength or mutual detuning are varied across the phase-locking thresholds. The compact semi-monolithic resonator setup enables investigations in a regime of very small detuning. Time-resolved measurements reveal the correlation between the onset of intensity pulsations and phase locking. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
