摘要
In this letter, we report an electro-optic (EO) modulator consisted of the silicon waveguide with the EO polymer cladding. In the hybrid waveguide the TEo mode is highly confined around the silicon core. Thus, we obtained relatively small half-wave-voltage length product (V pi L) of 2.15 V.cm. The measured V pi L is 28% smaller than the value obtained from standard polymer waveguide modulator. In addition, the hybrid structure possesses a propagation loss of 0.46 dB/mm in phase shifter part.
