The Mechanical Properties of a Fe-18% Cr-8% Ni Austenitic Steel at Elevated Temperatures

摘要
The Fe-18% Cr-8% Ni-type austenitic steels are currently used in the constructions of boilers of new generation coal-fired power units. The present work is devoted to the investigation of the microstructure and mechanical properties of Fe-18% Cr-8% Ni heat-resistant austenitic steel. A typical structure with a high portion of twin boundaries was observed. The increase in the tensile test temperature above 600 degrees C leads to a significant drop in strength and ductility. In addition, at a temperature of 600 degrees C, the instability of the plastic flow, which is also known as Portevin-Le Chatelier effect was observed.
