摘要
We propose a simple, micro-mechanically motivated model, which provides an interpretation of the degradation process in marble usually referred to as granular decohesion. Such damage is easily identified by the progressive detachment of the marble constituent calcite grains, as if their cementing material had been gradually destroying. The model explains the phenomenon attributing it to the anisotropic thermal expansion of calcite, which produces the springing apart of contiguous grains when the marble temperature is varied.
