摘要
In order to design soil structures quantitatively, it is expected nowadays that not only the deformation property but also the real failure mechanism with microscopic behavior should be characterized. The failure mechanism of soils in unconfined compression test was investigated using X-ray Computed Tomography(CT) Scanner, in which the deformation in the soil specimen was capable of being investigated without any destruction. The results drawn from this research were 1) Not only 3-D deformation property but also that of inside the soils were investigated clearly; and 2) The characterization of failure in soils was well investigated.
