Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Wroclaw: Its origin and founders

The author presents the fist years of the newly established Faculty of Veterinary Medicine which was re-organized at the University of Wroclaw after WWII. He presents the conditions and circumstances which accompanied the event. Wroclaw was largely destroyed during the war, and along with it buildings of institutions of higher education. There were also no material resources for teaching veterinary medicine because there was no such field of study at the German university in Wroclaw. Poland lost Lviv, and with it the pre-war independent School of Veterinary Medicine with its own rector. The article presents the professors of that institute, who, expatriated to Wroclaw, organized the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 1945.
