Social stigma perceived by patients of tuberculosis: Gender, age and marital status based differences

摘要
Objective: To investigate the phenomenon of social stigma in terms of gender, age and marital status based differences among patients of tuberculosis (TB). Methodology: In this ross-sectional survey, 200 patients of TB were included. The study was carried out during 2015-2017. Data were collected from TB centers of Lahore by using Urdu version of Perceived Stigma Scale. Results: Female patients with TB were more stigmatized than male patients. Young females were more stigmatized than middle aged patients. Unmarried patients experienced higher level of perceived stigma as compared to married patients. Conclusion: Middle aged male patients experience more perceived stigma than young patients.
