Microgrid Stability Improvement using a Fuzzy-Based PSS Design for Virtual Synchronous Generator

摘要
In this paper, a fuzzy logic Power System Stabilizer (FL-PSS) is designed for the virtual synchronous generator (VSG) to improve the damping of the electromechanical low frequency oscillations during system disturbances. The Fuzzy Inference System (FIS) is designed and optimized using a multi-objective Genetic Algorithm (GA) to deal with the drawbacks of the conventional PSS design without losing the control simplicity. The proposed FL-PSS uses the rotor speed deviation as an input for the controller and generates a supplementary control signal based on Tagaki-Sugeno (T-S) technique. To validate the robustness of the proposed controller, a microgrid comprising multiple VSGs is simulated and studied. Comparing the results obtained by the proposed GA-based controller with conventional controllers obviously demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed controller under different system disturbances and faults scenarios.
