摘要
The central venous access is a medical invasive procedure performed for drugs and nutrition administration to a patient when the peripheral veins are collapsed or cannot be used. This practice requires dexterity and knowledge developed through practice. In addition, the procedure becomes more challenging and difficult when applied in neonates due to their smaller anatomical features, muscle and tissue behaviour. The procedure is composed of several steps such as patient preparation, equipment preparation, anatomical analysis, puncture and catheter insertion, each of these requiring expertise. This project focuses on the anatomical analysis of the regions of interest when identifying where to insert the needle in the neonate using augmented reality within a game-based learning app. Currently, this practice is performed with manikins, pictures and illustrations. The proposed solution in this project presents an exploration and evaluation modules where the student can get familiar and practice using an augmented neonatal manikin whose diaper is a 3D marker to improved computer generated information without gaps and disappearances. The app was validated with a course of medical students under the supervision of their instructor.
