Bio and molecular chemistry pave new areas for materials research and education

摘要
Some new materials research and developments in the past decade through understanding of the structures of molecules and the manipulation and assembling of these molecules into novel materials are listed, such as SAM, mesoporous materials, nano-casting, micro contact printing, solar cell materials, etc. They are intended to serve as examples to illustrate the importance of fundamental knowledge of bio and molecular chemistry impacting the discipline of MSE. This raises the need to consider some realignment of knowledge in MSE as an educational discipline.
