Glass forming ability and properties of Zr/Nb-based bulk metallic glasses

摘要
The Zr/Nb-based bulk metallic glasses (BMG) with excellent glass forming ability, elastic and mechanical properties are obtained by water quenching method. The Zr48Nb8Cu14Ni12Be18 alloy and Zr48Nb8Cu12Be24Fe8 alloy are found to have the best glass forming ability (GFA). δT is more effective to evaluate the GFA of the Zr/Nb-based alloys. Comparing with the Zr/Ti-based BMG, the Zr/Nb based BMG have higher thermal stability, and higher glass transition temperature.
