摘要
The settling behavior of tailings suspensions in laboratory scale batch settling tests is important in the prediction of tailings thickening processes. A simple, explicit function of the batch settling height h vs time t is useful to describe the settling behavior of suspensions. In this study, a logistic function fitting procedure was carried out with experimental data, and each fit curve shows an excellent correlation. Furthermore, the parameters of the proposed function could be used to characterize the settling behavior of suspensions. The function involves parameters A(1), A(2), to and p. The final concentration of solid zone in suspensions can be determined by A(1) and A(2). In addition, the settling rate of suspensions is significantly related to to. In general, the logistic functional form of batch settling height h vs t appears to be a promising method for reliable batch sedimentation height profiling. Furthermore, the mathematical function of the settling flux and hindered settling function can be deduced based on the proposed batch settling function.
