Electronic transport in both magnetically and electrically modulated nanostructures

摘要
We study the transport of electrons in magnetic-electric barrier (MEB) nanostructures produced on a two-dimensional electron gas modulated by metallic ferromagnetic strips under a constant applied voltage. Two nanostructures with different magnetic configurations as well as alterable electric-barrier heights are investigated. Both the transmission coefficient and conductance are found to be strongly dependent on the magnetic structure and the electric-barrier height. The tunnelling properties in MEB nanostructures can conveniently be tailored not only by means of changing the configuration of the inhomogeneous magnetic field but also by tuning the electric-barrier height.
