The transversality of color

This paper presents the concept of the Transversality of color as a tool to understand the perception of color in illustrations and visual images that has its origin in sustained readings or in an established visual culture. Currently the color is considered from several fields; the scientific, physical, psychological and artistic. When we speaks of illustrations and visual images, the understanding of color is given from an artistic point of view, concentrating on the denotative and connotative characteristics of color, establishing through them and in conjunction with the rest of the visual elements, the final message of the picture ; However, at the time of practice when talking about color, these two concepts intertwine making a chromatic narrative that is able to significantly influence our perception and therefore the interpretation and meaning of what we are seeing. This article presents the Transversality of color as a quality of color that allows us to understand its use from the artistic field as a union of elements, which are no longer seen from different perspectives, but on the contrary, from the conjunction of them, where color is seen as an active entity at the moment of image perception.
