This article provides a personal account of innovation within the ranks of Post Office Telecommunications during the 1970s. It may come as a surprise to many to find that there was any innovation at all outside of the corporation's Dollis Hill or Martlesham Heath Research Laboratories at that time. However, a few of us were embracing new technology, improving the efficiency of telephone exchange Maintenance - and winning a few awards along the way.
