Synthesis and Characterization of a Dinuclear Copper Complex Bearing a Hydrophobic Cavity as a Model for Copper-Containing Monooxygenases

摘要
The synthesis and characterization of a dinuclear copper complex as a model of mononuclear copper-containing monooxygenases [dopamine beta-monooxygenase (D beta M), tyramine beta-monooxygenase (T beta M), and peptidylglycine alpha-hydroxylating monooxygenase (PHM)] are described. This model is based on a cyclophane moiety bearing two bis-(picolylamine) ligands for the complexation of two copper atoms and exhibits macroscopic features equivalent to those of the enzymes: (1) the two copper centers are 11.5 angstrom ap(11 angstrom for the enzymes) and (2) there is a hydrophobic pocket consisting of a cyclophane moiety in which substrates can bind near the two copper centers.
