A Sociological Look at Tourism Studies

Dr. Vania Beatriz Merlotti Heredia joined the University of Caxias do Sul as a professor in 1977, and the Tourism and Hospitality Graduate Program, in 2014, in order to contribute to the historical-sociological research into Tourism and Hospitality. She has progressively entered into the theoretical discussion of social spaces and historical knowledge of Tourism and established, in teaching and research, a more in-depth methodology from other sources of research, such as religiosity, migrations, memories and heritage. Vania believes that taking a broader look into Tourism is needed, so as to improve the quality of teaching and research on the area.
