摘要
Vanillin is a highly functionalized phenolic compound that can be sourced from alkaline wet depolymerization of lignin. The lignin-based vanillin is still not widely available due to the laborious purification process. In this work, vanillin rich solution is produced through preparative chromatography, this solution is extracted with ethyl acetate and vanillin is then crystallized from aqueous solution at room temperature. The pH of extraction plays an important role on the success of the crystallization. Purity is assessed by HPLC, GC-MS and melting point. The melting point of the product crystallized was in the range of 77-79 degrees C. Vanillin with a purity of up to 96% was obtained.
