Complex fracture of the maxilla in a dog

摘要：
A hunting dog was presented for consultation for trauma of the face. Examination revealed fracture of the maxillary bone. The precise diagnosis was confirmed using radiographs of the face taken under sedation. The fracture was multiple and complex. Surgical treatment was performed. A pharyngostomy allowed administration of anaesthetic and maintenance of jaw occlusion. The fragments were fixed using a plate, bone suture and interdental cerclage. Prophylactic antibacterials and analgesia were administered. Complete fracture repair was achieved three months post-operatively.
