Arthrocentesis on temporomandibular joint disorder

Seventy-four TMD patients (internal derangement, osteoarthrosis) were treated by our arthrocentesis procedure. That was combined method with arthrocentesis, injection of hyarulonic acid and jaw mobilization. The overall successful rare was 65.8%. Especially, in cases of OA this technique was highly effective (88%). It is considered an effective method for patients with internal derangement or osteoarthrosis accompanied by restricted mouth opening and/or pain during jaw movement.
