摘要
Grain structure in polycrystalline materials defines their macroscopic properties. Grain growth is the process where these properties are improved, here some grains grows while others shrinks, decreasing the total energy of the system. Classical 2D and 3D models for grain growth have known results according with theory, but they are computationally expensive and some of them have to deal with topological transitions. In this paper we propose a 3D grain growth model which deals implicitly with topological transitions, only intervening to perform grain removal. This model effectively decreases the total energy of the system.
