摘要
This article gives an overview of the scientific discussion on the topic of regional governance in Germany in recent years. To this end, theor y-based empirical studies of the Second Generation of regional governance research are examined in terms of their compatibility with earlier research. The main examination criteria are: firstly, our understanding of the term regional governance, and secondly, the question of the use of regional governance typologies. Thirdly, an in-depth investigation into the issue of a cognitive turn in regional governance research is also presented. Finally, conclusions are drawn and several perspectives on further regional governance research are highlighted.English title: The Second Generation: Current State and Future Perspectives of Theory-Based Regional Governance Research in Germany
