摘要
Thin films of polyimide polymers Kapton 100 HN and PM-1E have been exposed to the space environment during LDEF and MIR "Komplast" mission. The degradation effects due to the exposure are here presented and discussed: mass and thickness loss data as well variations of optical properties have been assessed by means of experimental tests. The results of "Komplast" mission point out the evidence of anisotropic superficial texturing of exposed polymers, which have not been recognised yet. A Montecarlo approach which relates mass loss and optical damage to neutral gas attack in LEO, namely atomic oxygen AO, is presented and validated by "in situ" data.
