摘要
Ad hoc On-demand Distance Vector (AODV) Routing is an efficient routing protocol in VANET. AODV is a reactive routing protocol and it works only when the data is transmitted. It communicates with all of its neighbor nodes to exchange the link information. When a node moves with high speed, the route failure happens frequently. In this paper, AODV-PLET (Preferred Link Expiration Time) protocol is proposed to improve the route survival time of AODV. AODV-PLET divides the neighbors to different forwarding priority base on link expiration time. Different priority node forwards the route request packets (RREQ) with a different delay time. During the delay time, node detects the RREQ from neighbors and determines whether RREQ can recover all of their neighbors. If that's so, the node does not rebroadcast the RREQ. Simulation result shows that the AODV-PLET has higher packet delivery rate and lower overhead than AODV. AODV-PLET is more suitable for VANET.
