The superabsorbent acrylic fibre (acrysorb) was spun into ring, rotor and dref-3 yarns, which were knitted to terrysock fabrics. The quality of these fabric samples was evaluated and compared with that of terrysock fabric knitted from cotton ring yarn. The acrysorb yarns performed well in knitting, with the fabrics having better appearance and handle as compared to the cotton fabric. The acrysorb terrysock fabrics gave higher water absorption, water retention, drying capability and air permeability than that of cotton fabric.
