摘要
Environmental pollution is one of the major problems being faced today due to the advent of extensive industrialization Heavy metals are the most important contaminants in waste water that are present in abundance and are toxic. Microbes might be used to remediate water or waste streams sequestering metals in soil and sediments or solubilizing metals to aid in their extraction. The use of microbial biomass to extract heavy metals from the effluent solutions is an area of extensive research and development activity. An attempt is made to study the bioadsorption of cadmium metal by selected bacterial strains to find their efficiency in removing the metal, effluent samples collected and screened the bacteria. Twelve isolates obtained from three samples, are screened for bioadsorption and resistant mechanism towards heavy metal cadmium. The microbe-based technology may provide an alternative to the conventional techniques of metal removal/recovery from polluted effluents and waste water.
