摘要
Radiotherapy is effective if applied in a timely manner. Supportive therapy is necessary to avoid toxicity-related treatment interruptions. To describe evidence-based supportive therapy in radiation oncology. Studies published in 1995-2011 were systematically analyzed and guidelines were defined. The prevention and therapy of (sub)acute radiation side effects of the cerebrum, head and neck region, skin and lungs are described. Guideline conform supportive therapy mitigates side effects and avoids interruptions in radiation therapy. Patients with suspected radiation side effects should present to a radiation oncology department.
