Fueling a Software-driven Economy: The 4th International Workshop on Software-intensive Business

The global pandemic has shown: thanks to advanced software technologies, society and businesses were able to quickly respond to environmental disruptions. Software-intensive businesses had to quickly pivot their business models, and demands in software-based service offerings facilitating remote work drastically increased and challenged control modes of prior management practices. These example challenges cannot be tackled by engineering or business discipline alone. The International Workshop on Software-intensive Business (IWSiB) brought together different research communities working on topics relevant to software-intensive businesses to jointly investigate these challenges. For example, the keynote speaker Professor Dr. Guenther Ruhe took a return-on-investment perspective on machine learning. The workshop facilitated knowledge exchange through discussions related to software platforms, software startups, software pricing, and the dark web. The feedback from the wider community helped the authors of the eight papers presented at the workshop to further develop and improve their research.
