摘要
This essay is the first in a two-part series on teaching the history of Robert Moses and midcentury urbanism in New York. In this first installment, we discuss the influence of Robert Caro's The Power Broker: Robert Moses and the Fall of New York (1974) and how it has shaped the public conception of Moses. We offer some critiques and point to ideas on how to complicate Moses's career and legacy. In the second installment, we will provide approaches for teaching about the master builder that add nuance to the interpretation of his work and center primary sources from different phases of his career. © 2022 Yerkure Tanitim ve Yayincilik Hizmetleri A.S..
