Positron lifetime spectra study of irradiation-induced defects in heavy-metal oxide glasses

摘要
The irradiation-induced defects in heavy-metal oxide glasses of 50Bi(2)O(3)-10B(2)O(3)-(40-x)SiO2-xSb(2)O(3) (x = 0, 1, 3, 8 mol%) at different irradiation doses (kGy) of 0.5, 1, 5, and 15.5 were studied by annihilation lifetime and UV-vis transmission spectra. The results show that the three lifetime components (tau(1), tau(2) and tau(3)) and the corresponding intensities (I-1, I-2 and I-3) change systematically with an increase of the Sb2O3 and irradiation dose. An interesting phenomenon, that the changes of lifetime and intensity correspond well to the variations of ultraviolet and visible transmission spectra, is observed.
