Creep behaviour of a particle reinforced aluminium alloy in consideration of the microstructure

摘要
The particle reinforced aluminium alloy 6061 + Al2O3 was investigated regarding its creep behaviour at a testing temperature of T = 150 degrees C. Uniaxial creep tests under constant stress reveal the influence of the particles on the creep curve and the minimum creep rate. The microhardness was used to characterize hardening and softening of the matrix due to the elevated temperature. Some creep tests were interrupted in order to quantify particle damage by cleavage and decohesion. The role of hardening and softening mechanisms in the matrix as well as the role of particle damage will be discussed concerning their contributions to the overall creep behaviour.
