摘要：

Reaction of ethyl NI-theophyllinyl acetate 1 with hydrazine hydrate gives N(7-)theophyllinylacetyl hydrazine 2, which on condensation with various aromatic aldehydes afford corresponding arylidene derivatives 3(a-h). A series of 2-substituted aryl-3-(N-7 -theophyllinylacetamidyl)-4-oxo-1,3-thiazolidin-5-yl ethanoic acids (4a-h) have been synthesized via cycloaddition of (3a-h) with mercaptosuccinic acid. Compounds (4a-h) have also been converted into corresponding ethanoyl chloride derivatives (5a-h) and condensed with N-hydroxyphthalimide and N-hydroxysuccinimide to furnish titled compounds (6a-p).
