Politics of antagonism, Politics of hospitality. Laclau and Derrida readings on theory of discourse

This article presents two possible political drifts configured from the basic assumptions of the Theory of Discourse. In this way, after describing the fundamental guidelines that make up the discursive matrix common to the theoretical approaches of Jacques Derrida and Ernesto Laclau, we characterize what we call as "politics of hospitality" and "politics of antagonism". The first, characteristic of the French philosopher's thought, places at its center the promise of Justice and unconditional hospitality offered to the other; while the Argentinian thinker supports the need for a hegemonic policy based on the configuration of antagonisms. The article focuses on showing the complex relationships that can be established between them (despite their differences), without affirming their absolute complementarity or presenting them as exclusive alternatives.
