摘要
Economic pressures on universities and the emergence of new technologies have spurred the creation of new systems for delivering engineering laboratories in education, in particular simulations and remote access laboratory systems. Remote experimentation laboratories are systems based on real equipment, allowing students to perform practical work through a computer connected to the internet. This paper proposed a remote access laboratory system for running the laboratory work for Material Technology course. The laboratory exercises that contain remotely conducted experiments assisted by the internet can be created and the exercises could be advantageous in engaging students in an interactive internet activity prior to conducting a more comprehensive laboratory experiment. A complete set of instructions including software on how remotely conducted laboratory experiments may be set up, and can be used to motivate instructors to create additional internet-assisted exercises. These laboratories are similar to simulation techniques in that they require minimal space and time, because the experiments can be rapidly configured and run over the internet. But unlike simulations, they provide real data. This remote laboratory is expected to solve the problem of high cost in conducting hands-on lab and environmental pollution created by the traditional laboratory work of Material Technology course.
