Hydroxylated carboxylic acid monomers as stabilizing agents for yttria-alumina aqueous suspensions

摘要
The effect of hydroxylated benzoic acid monomers on the colloidal stability of yttria-alumina binary aqueous suspensions is examined. The above property is also compared with those of citric acid, and polymethacrylic acid. It is observed that among the acids examined, only 2, 3-dihydroxybenzoic acid effectively prevents a change in the viscosity of yttria-alumina binary aqueous suspensions versus time. This phenomenon is attributed to the lower tendency of 2, 3-dihydroxybenzoic acid to adsorb dissolving yttrium ions from solution.
