Resonant effects in Raman scattering by optical phonons confined in CdSe quantum dots

摘要
Raman scattering by optical phonons confined in CdSe spherical quantum dots (QDs) produced by a chemical synthesis method was studied theoretically and experimentally, in order to demonstrate specific effects related to the structure of the lowest electron-hole (e - h) state. The most important of these effects are a red shift (of several cm(-1)) of the Raman peak with respect to the bulk LO phonon frequency and a high depolarisation ratio for the scattering excited in resonance with the (1S(3/2) - 1s(e)) e - h state, which both decrease out of resonance.
