摘要
We present visual software tools developed for distance teaching in course "Automata Theory and Formal Languages". This course belongs to the area of theoretical computer science, and explores mathematical models of computation (automata, grammars), their properties, expressive power, and transformations. The tools are intended for interactive hands-on exploration of the studied concepts that would otherwise remain purely theoretical and intangible. With these tools students may check their assignment solutions, get prompt answers to many typical questions and easier communicate with each other. We discuss the main capabilities of the tools, and their use in the distance learning process.
