摘要
Transcatheter closure of atrial septal defects (ASD) is a common procedure. Amplatzer Septal Occluder (ASO) was the first device to receive FDA approval for this procedure in December 2001 and is commonly used for this indication. Persistent residual shunts are infrequent following ASD device closure with the ASO device. We report two adult patients with persistent and remarkably similar residual shunts that occurred anteriorly between the discs of the device as it splayed around the aorta. We speculate that oversizing ASO devices could lead to a residual shunt between the discs.
