Oxidation of a ZrB2 coating fabricated on Ta-W alloy by electrophoretic deposition and laser melting

摘要
An oxidation resistant ZrB2 ceramic coating was fabricated on a Ta-W alloy by using a two-step process: electrophoretic deposition of ZrB2 powder coating and then densification by laser melting. The ZrB2 coating effectively prevented the Ta-W alloy from heavy external oxidation and deep granular internal oxidation at 2000 degrees C in air. (C) 2015 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
