Indications for surgical intervention and microsurgical treatment of supratentorial cavernous hemangiomas

The series of 48 patients (30 male and 18 female) with intracranial cavernous Hemangiomas(CH) were diagnosed between April 1991 and April 1997 at Ankara University Medical Faculty Department of Neurosurgery. Thirty five CH were treated surgically. 24 of the 35 were located supratentorially and complete excision was obtained in 24 patients. The overall outcome was good in all of the resulting better seizure control or improved neurological deficit. We advocate surgical treatment for all symptomatic CH.
