Seroprevalence of bluetongue virus antibodies in camels in organised farms of Gujarat

A total of 82 camels' sera were screened for the presence of BTV group specific antibodies. The overall rate of seroprevalence was 25.61, 28.05 and 37.80 per cent by BT-AGID, CCIE and c-ELISA, respectively. Camels of two organised farms viz., Camel Breeding Farm, Dhori (Kuchchh) and Camel Farm, Jampura were screened for BTV group specific antibodies and the rate of seroprevalence was 24.07, 25.93, and 37.04 per cent in Dhori and 28.57, 32.14 and 39.26 per cent in Jampura. The higher rate of seroprevalence was reported in camels having dermatitis (30, 30 and 45 per cent) and stiffness (35.14, 42.86 and 50 per cent) than in the apparently healthy camels (20.83, 22.92 and 31.25 per cent) by BT-AGID, CCIE and c-ELISA, respectively.
