摘要
The semantic Web has been enjoying significant investment, mostly through research but to a lesser extent through start-ups and commercial projects. The World Wide Web Consortium maintains a Web page for its Semantic Web Education and Outreach interest Group. Semantic Web technology aims to address the shortcomings of the HTML based Web, using description languages RDF and OWL and the data-centric, customizable markup language XML. Semantic technology is helping to address issues by associating unstructured information with domain ontologies. This makes possible more intelligent information-access facilities by annotating documents with semantic meta-information, which tells the machine what the document or subdocument is about. This king of semantic annotation lets semantics-based knowledge management systems exploit semantic links between concepts for information access.
