摘要
Spur gears are widely used basic machine element in variety of industrial fields like automotive, marine, aerospace and many other power transmission applications. Despite the considerable technical advantages, vibration and noise reduction is a major concern in gearing applications requiring smooth and quieter operation of machinery. Hence, in recent years, many studies have reported gear dynamics and techniques to reduce vibrations in gears. This article presents a novel means of reducing gear vibrations using a simple 1:1 ratio spur gear pair with phasing. To investigate the effect of phasing, the experimental set-up was built and the overall vibrations of gears are measured using Two-Channel FFT Analyzer over a wide range of speeds. The wide band values of RMS velocity and RMS acceleration were measured with accelerometers placed radially in horizontal and vertical directions on the bearing housing frame for both cases i.e. with phasing and without phasing (normal gears) and are compared. Simulation results are also obtained using Ansys R15.0 software to validate the experimental results. The experimental investigations and finite element analysis showed considerable reduction in vibration level in simple spur gear pair using the proposed method.
