The Laprotek surgical system (endoVia Medical, Norwood, Massachusetts) represents the next generation in surgical robotics. Advanced features are provided such that the system can be viewed by the surgeon as a "computer-aided instrument" rather than a cumbersome "robot." Laprotek offers a modular, lightweight, multiple-arm system as an open platform. The system is compatible with any videoscopic system and offers many other features that reduce cost. Laprotek has the highest degree of versatility and provides the surgeon the greatest flexibility of any robotic surgical system.
