摘要：

Malaria is a frequently imported disease from tropical countries. Falciparum malaria has to be considered as life-threatening. Treatment first of all depends on the suspected resistance of the Plasmodia and on the severity of the disease. In cases of complicated falciparum malaria supportive treatment measures become necessary which can only be delivered in intensive care units. These ancillary treatments are based on pathophysiological considerations but are not always evaluated in clinical trials.
