Professional practice survey results

A survey was designed and conducted to gauge the changing market and how liability concerns affect the way civil engineers practice. The survey was mailed to management of the top 500 engineering firms a ranked by Engineering News-Record. The results appear to confirm the trend of a changing civil engineering marketplace. Business is growing, but clients are becoming more demanding, expecting not only firm pricing of services but also greater multidisciplinary capability. Furthermore, proactive firms with financial resources may be expected to become project participants instead of simply project consultants.
