摘要：
The paper deals with financing of research and development, focusing on the comparison of research and development expenditure in EU countries. The results of the research provide a comparison of total expenditure on research and development (R&D intensity), in % of GDR and Government budget appropriations or outlays for R&D, as % of total general government expenditure. By means of hierarchical cluster analysis, selected categories of research and development expenditure (expenditure in the higher education sector, expenditure in the government sector, and expenditure in the business enterprise sector) in EU countries in years 2004 and 2013 are compared. On the basis of the results of the cluster analysis, similarities and differences in expenditure on research and development in the individual countries, including their fluctuations, are provided
