摘要
This paper addresses the conventional sawtooth forcing function as a tool to predict the. structural response in conditions of self-excited vibration. This phenomenon, known also as frequency lock-in, may arise while a sheet of level ice or rafted ice acts on a vertical faced offshore structure. Data published by several researchers were used to derive a sawtooth forcing function, which can be used to obtain slightly conservative values for the structural response and action effects arising during self-excited vibrations.
