Supramolecular heterophase-kinetic model of phototransformations in cellulose triacetate sensitised by naphthalene

摘要
Photochemical transformation of naphthalene in glassy films of cellulose triacetate is a complex process, in which the polymeric free radicals participate, the polymeric chains cleave and the products of addition of naphthalene to macromolecules are formed. In absence of, oxygen the rate of naphthalene consumption in films is increased directly proportional to the intensity of ultraviolet irradiation, whereas the rate of a polymeric chains cleave changes proportionally to the square of radiation intensity. The initiators of the process are unitary excited triplet molecules of naphthalene localised in such structural zones of the matrix where they are not able to perform emission deactivation. The increase of naphthalene concentration in films causes reduction of rate of its consumption and rates of polymeric chains' cleavage. This and other features of photo-transformation are explained in frameworks of supramolecular heterophase-kinetic model of the process in view of energy transfer of a triplet state from sensitisation zones on naphthalene molecules in such zones where sensitisation does not occur while deactivation of the triplet state takes place.
