摘要
In the present research, BiFeO3 nanoparticles were firstly prepared by one-pot green fabrication using Abelmoschus esculentus L. leaves extract (ALE). The content of secondary metabolite compounds in ALE, which are alkaloids, can replace hazardous chemicals, for instance, NH4OH and NaOH as hydrolyzing agents, while saponins and flavonoids act as capping agents in the fabrication of BiFeO3 nanoparticles. To investigate the properties, BiFeO3 was analyzed by various characterization techniques. As a result, the investigation of morphology and particle size revealed the spherical shape of BiFeO3 with a particle size of around 9.74 nm. The photocatalytic activity of BiFeO3 nanoparticles was investigated for the degradation of methylene blue (MB) under visible-light irradiation. BiFeO3 presented the MB degradation percentage of 94.04% after 120 min of irradiation time. The excellent photocatalytic activity could be attributed to the narrow bandgap energy of BiFeO3, which was obtained to be 2.00 eV.
